Lewis Controls Success Stories:Shape Scan Mill Analysis: The following analysis was performed by a mill that recently upgraded to a Lewis Controls Readyscan with Shape Scan optimization. They previously were using a Lewis Controls Photo Cell Speed Scan Optimizer on their Corley 17 degree tilted carriage. The Shape Scan option on the Lewis Controls Readyscan Optimizer, utilizes Dynavision L4 scan heads which allows it to gather information over 120 degrees of the log surface. This data is taken at 1 inch intervals along the length of the log. In addition to the increase in scan information, the Shape Scan system does not require knee movement in the scanning process. This results in quicker scan, solution, and log setting than a photo cell type system.
